Every year in January, the Living and Learning Design Center (India's first craft museum) hosts the LLDC Folk Festival, a five-day event. The event offers for sale unique handicrafts manufactured by artisans in Kutch and other parts of India. The festival is being held on the LLDC campus,
which also has a thoroughly studied gallery showcasing the achievements, endeavours, and lives of nine Kutchi communities. Visitors get the chance to experiment with various crafts. Since January 2016, Shrujan Trust has worked through the Living and Learning Design Center (LLDC) to preserve and conserve Kutchi art and culture. The Center is a multi-dimensional crafts education and resource centre located in Ajarakhpur, Bhuj-Kutch.
It was Kutch's first craft festival, displaying the regional traditional arts and crafts as well as embroidered designs exclusive to 12 Kutch communities. The main goal of LLDC is to familiarise the local population with both their own culture and other cultures. To really immerse them in the culture, all of the visiting artists are housed in local households. For everyone, it is a very immersive experience. As part of its two-year anniversary celebration, LLDC held the LLDC Folk Festival in January 2018 to celebrate the art, craft, music, dance, and cuisine of Kutch and other regions of India. Five North-Eastern States participated in the LLDC folk festival, which was organised in partnership with the North-East of India and NAMASTE (North-East India Cultural Festival).
For the following years, LLDC will celebrate an annual festival of cultural exchange in cooperation with other Indian states. This festival features an evening cultural programme with captivating performances. The Kutchi performances are presented with acts from other parts of India, performers from other regions, and a mixture of folk music and traditional dances from both regions. There is a set up of dining thalis displaying the delectable local specialties. Visitors can choose the coupons they want to pick up. Come and take in the various arts, crafts, traditional dances, and music. Try your hand at different traditional crafts, chow down on the best appetisers, and let the local musicians and dancers mesmerise you with each rhythmic beat.
