Festival Rongker (Karbi)

A significant ethnic group of Assam in Northeast India, particularly in the hilly regions, is the Karbis, formerly known as the Mikir. The majority of people that live in the Karbi Anglong district are Karbis. Additionally,

they can be found in Assam's North Kachar district, Kamrup, Nagaon, and Sonitpur districts. The states of Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Nagaland are home to the Karbis. They are acknowledged as one of the states' indigenous tribes.

Rongker is observed on either the fifth of January or the fifth of February, according on the convenience of the locals, as a time of thanksgiving to God and a request for protection from any wicked harm that might befall the entire hamlet. It is a post-harvest event during which the neighbourhood gathers together to rejoice and celebrate with great fanfare.
