The Mewar Festival In Udaipur Rajasthan

The Mewar Festival, which heralds the arrival of springtime, pleasure, and happiness, is enthusiastically observed in Udaipur, the city of lakes. Thousands of locals and visitors participate in it. The entire city is decorated in vivid hues and prepared to receive guests who will be exposed to many facets of Rajputana's illustrious history and culture. The festival is held to commemorate the arrival of spring.

With a scattering of a cornucopia of vibrantly coloured flowers in full bloom, the gardens and parks are drenched in brilliant, verdant colours. As a result, the event is a unique fusion of traditional Rajputi rites and traditions. Enjoy Mewar's incredible hospitality, where everyone is welcomed with great excitement and joy. Padharo

People from many towns come together to take part in the festivities, and one can observe the commotion growing gradually and steadily, reaching its peak as more and more tourists and artists rush into the city. It's breathtaking to see Udaipur during the Gangaur Festival, when the city is awash in colour and the local markets are illuminated with brilliant lights. It's interesting that the Royal House of Mewar's legacy, which has been carried through without interruption for the past roughly 75 years, is connected to the Mewar Festival.

Mewar Festival Date, Location, and Tickets 2023

In collaboration with the Udaipur District Administration, the Rajasthani government's tourism department hosts the three-day Mewar Festival, also known as the Gangaur Festival. This lovely celebration takes place during Holi, the Hindu festival of colours, in the months of Chaitra, March, or April. Throughout the festival, numerous venues host a range of events and activities concurrently. Everyone is welcome to attend this festival, and there is no admission fee.

The Mewar Festival's past

The Sisodia dynasty ruled Udaipur and the adjacent Mewar region during the early history of this famous event. A holy man was reportedly encountered by Maharana Udai Singh during one of his hunting expeditions, according to historical records. The holy man is said to have blessed the monarch and given him the go-ahead to construct a palace when they first met. The monarch easily consented and, following the saint's directions, established the city and erected a palace in this area.
