` Festo Fest - The new era to know about your Culture and Dharma

The Himachal Halda Festival

One of the most anticipated festivals in Lahaul, the Halda Festival offers you an unforgettable experience with its exotic cocktails, mesmerising dance performances, happy family gatherings, and rich cultural celebrations. When residents of the state come together to celebrate the New Year and make prosperous wishes, it is a joyful and happy occasion.

The Shiskar Apa, the Goddess of Wealth in the Lamaistic Pantheon, is honoured during the Halda Festival. The beautiful bonfire, which is held in a location selected by the Lamas, is the highlight of the Halda Festival. People assemble at this predetermined location and start a huge bonfire with lit cedar twigs. The bonfire, which plays a significant role in the celebrations in the valleys of the Chandra and Bhaga Rivers and Keylong, serves as a symbol of the group's unity. The magnificent dance performances and subsequent revelry enhance the festival's aesthetic appeal. In addition, a special ceremony is held, and gifts are made to the neighbourhood gods for the happiness and prosperity of the villagers.

Highlights of the Festival:

  • The Halda Festival is celebrated over two days.
  • This celebration is eerily similar to Diwali, the festival of lights.
  • On the auspicious day of Magha Purnima, it is observed.
  • The Lahaul, Keylong, Chandra, and Bhaga River Valleys' unique cultural fusion is on display at the Halda Festival in these remote Himalayan locales.
